Help For Dr. Mehta's Patients

(Niagara Falls, NY) Police say the arrest of Niagara Falls Doctor Pravin Mehta MD is good news in regards to stopping the flow of illegal prescriptions that are being sold on the streets of Western New York

Dr. Mehta's offices were raided on thursday by a task force of law enforcement including Niagara Falls Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

A total of 14 people are being charged in connection with the use of fraudulently issued and forged prescriptions from Dr. Mehta's practice.

However, patients of Dr. Pravin Mehta say the arrest is bad news for them. Several called Eyewitness News to complain that other physicians in the area would not accept them once they learned they had connections to Dr. Mehta.

Authorities estimated that Dr. Mehta had close to 10,000 patients and many had legitimate health problems including diabetes.

Officials at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and the Medical Society of Niagara County say two facilities are accepting former patients of Dr. Pravin Mehta's:
