NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) The big winter storm that everyone was worried about hit Niagara County later than expected, but it brought plenty of snow.

During the morning hours, snowfall was coming down so quickly that many residents had to shovel multiple times.

The City of Niagara Falls had eight pieces of equipment out clearing the roads.

Officials telling Eyewitness News that they were focusing on primary and secondary roads while the storm continued to dump large amounts of snow.

Slippery roads are thought to be the reason for a multi-vehicle accident on the I-190 in Niagara Falls.

Around 7:15am, a truck jack-knifed in the northbound lane on the Niagara Falls side of the Grand Island bridge.

The accident ended up involving several vehicles and caused a traffic backup that stretched for nearly two miles back across Grand Island.

Thruway officials say there were no serious injuries in the mishap.
