BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A hearing taking place Thursday for the City of Buffalo Human Resources Commissioner recently fired by Mayor Byron Brown.
Karla Thomas came under fire after a city audit showed the HR department paid $2.7 million in health insurance benefits for more than 150 former employees who were deceased.
Thomas was also questioned by the city common council about the city's 'national search' for Buffalo Police Commissioner. Daniel Derenda was eventually confirmed in that position.
The city charter entitles Thomas to today's hearing.
