Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- Union bargaining committee members represented by 1199 SEIU, CWA, and IUOE, have agreed to extend their contract with Kaleida Health through June 27 as the two sides work toward a new agreement.
The existing contract was set to expire at midnight June 17. With a new expiration date of June 27th, the bargaining committee says it will continue to negotiate the contract in a fair and responsible manner.
The following is a statement from CWA Local 1168 President John Klein and 1199 SEIU Vice President Jim Scordato:
“This evening the bargaining committee agreed to extend the current contract through June 27th. We want nothing more than to settle this in a fair and responsible matter.
“Throughout these negotiations we have focused on the need to protect high-quality patient care for Western New Yorkers. If we can’t agree on a contract that protects our patients and profession in the years ahead we will move forward with our strike authorization vote scheduled for June 28th.”
