Stakes are high as Lake Shore Health battles for survival. A report in today's Business First shows how officials are working to save the system and the jobs in Chautauqua County. Six weeks after filing for bankruptcy protection at Lake Shore Health Care Center, TLC Health System officials are scrambling to finalize financing with a potential buyer. Business First says federal and state funding is coming in, while two parties are bidding to potentially buy the hospital. If the efforts fail, a shutdown would mean more available doctors and surgeons, which are needed. But it would also mean that patients would be short on services.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is heading to Florida. Musicians will warm up while also heating up profits. The BPO is slated for a weeklong tour to a handful of cities Feb. 7-12.. A report in today's Business First says it's the first out of state tour in several years. Officials say former Western New Yorkers and snowbirds have been requesting a BPO Florida tour.
