Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- After four days of testimony dedicated to describing every detail of his relationship with wife Aasiya, Muzzammil Hassan devoted only an hour to testimony about the day he killed her.
He claims that on February 12th, 2009, Aasiya held a knife to his threat and told him to end his friendship with another woman. After that, he says, he felt his world collapse.
He went to Walmart and bought two knives. He says he needed them to cut wood to build fires with a friend in the upcoming weekend, but also implied he needed them for protection from Aasiya.
Hassan then went back to the station where he waited for Aasiya to bring him clean clothes. He claims Aasiya demanded that he ended his relationship with another woman. When she reached in her pocket, he tells the jury, things happened. You've seen what happens.
Hassan testified that he felt relieved. He thought God gave him the courage to kill her and protect his family. It was not a struggle with Aasiya, he told the jury, but with the evil dragon inside her.
Testimony had been told in the same calm demeanor for four days until this point. He ends his testimony in tears, talking about how he just didn't want his kids to be like Aasiya.
Judge Franczyk ruled that his two oldest children, Sonia and Michael, will be allowed to take the stand again in a limited capacity. Cross examination will continue Wednesday.
