Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- The jury heard from three witnesses Thursday. Muzzammil "mo" Hassan was not there for their testimony. Hassan was able to watch the court proceedings from another room.
Hassan left the courtroom angry that the judge refused to let him represent himself from this point on. Hassan claims that his defense attorney Jeremy Schwartz is "inefficient" because he did not visit him four times a week, read Hassan's 4000 emails, or read 6000 pages of documents connected to this case.
Schwartz says that he may not be able to continue representing Hassan if this continues. Hassan should represent himself if that's what he wants, Schwartz says. But the judge felt that Hassan was given proper council and told Hassan any problems were his own doing.
Despite the interruption to the trial, a physicians assistant testified that she treated Aasiya Hassan for several domestic violence injuries between 2007 and January 2009. She says that Mr. Hassan never required any treatments for domestic violence injuries.
A Bridges TV employee testified that he found two receipts days after Aasiya was killed in the tv station. One was for a 90,000 dollar bank check written to Mo Hassan. Another was for a PO Box for Mo Hassan. Both were dated two days before Aasiya's death, which was February 12, 2009.
Finally, a Walmart employee testified that Hassan bought two hunting knives the day of the murder. She claims he was polite while testing their sharpness.
Testimony resumes Monday. It's not clear whether Hassan will rejoin his attorney in the courtroom or continue to watch court proceedings elsewhere.
