Hamburg, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - Monday night's Hamburg Town Board work session was short 1 Council member.
Councilman Joe Collins was not allowed in.
Collins claims it's political retaliation for his frequent opposition to the board's Republican majority-- he also claims his office was raided-- and says his messages on his voicemail have been deleted.
" They had shut off my electronic key-- I am shutout of Town Hall," Collins told Eyewitness News.
Town Supervisor Steven Walters confirmed Collins was not allowed in to Monday's Board meeting but says there's a good reason for that.
"We are simply asking for clarification," Walters said.
Clarification, on a Doctor's note Collins had given to the Town Clerk back in September.
The note claimed Collins needed to avoid "stressful situations."
It was provided to explain the reason Collins could not attend a September 22nd meeting in which the Town Board was investigating several misconduct charges Collins is facing.
Walters says Collins has not submitted a letter from his doctor clearing him to return to work. He says allowing him back could potentially make the town liable if anything were to happen.
" We've now requested this information 4 times from Mr. Collins-- had he provided this information this would have been put to bed privately." Walters said.
Collins says he is willing to get the clearance from the Doctor-- but claims he wants an investigation into who deleted messages from his office phone at Town Hall.
In an email, he accuses Walters of entering "my private office space and possibly illegally deleting my stored information received from town residents."
This dispute, the latest battle between Collins and other Town Council members and workers.
He is facing harrassment charges from a former town employee-- and is also facing several other misconduct charges.
Charges, Collins denies.
