HSBC Banks Are Changing

BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) HSBC customers are getting ready for the bank changeover on Friday, May 18 when most accounts will transfer to First Niagara Bank.

We sat down with a top official at First Niagara to run through some of the things you need to know about the switch to its bank.

1.) Activate your First Niagara debit card. It becomes active Friday, May 18 at 3pm. Your HSBC debit card stops working on Friday, May 18 at 3pm.

2.) You can't activate your credit card until Sunday, May 20. Your HSBC credit card stops working on Sunday, May 20.

3.) Start using your First Niagara checks now. Any outstanding HSBC checks will clear in the next 90 days without any problems.

4.) Direct Deposit should automatically change. You will be notified if it doesn't go through.
