She's captured the hearts and minds of her young students, and this week, Channel 7 and Reeds-Jenns Jewelers honored Jeanne Kielbasa from St. Christopher's School in Tonawanda for her hard work. Mrs. Kielbasa received the first ever 'Golden Apple Teacher of the Month' award, but she said its all thanks to her wonderful group of students.
"I have to tell you its not everyday you come to school and see so many smiling faces and that's your motivation," Mrs. Kielbasa said.
Mrs. K, as students call her, spent 36-years molding the minds of these students. She's spent so many years as an educator, she's even taught the kids of students she had in the past. Not only has Mrs. K taught a group of kindergartners, she's also taught 5th, 4th, 1st and even Pre-K students.
"Now not only have you had a chance to educate the parents, you have their child so it makes you want to work harder," she said.
She cheered on the best class in the world as she recieved her special award, all the while giving her students a little lesson about the history behind apples. Kielbasa never stops teaching. It's her niche and to see her hard work pay off, well that's just an added bonus.
Each month we'll honor a local educator, like Mrs. Kielbasa, who have made a positive impact upon the youth of our community. If you know a teacher who is truly golden, you can submit your story here
