(ABCNews.com) With gold prices at an all-time high, another jewelry-related statistic is also on the rise -- thefts.
Police say gold jewelry is being stolen across the country at a higher rate, including many instances of gold chains been ripped off the necks of their owners by thieves.
"They see the dollar sign, and they are going for it. They are willing to take a lot more of a chance than they used to," Cmdr. Andy Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department told "Good Morning America."
