BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) A movement is underway to educate women about their number one killer: heart disease.

The American Heart Association is gearing up for its "Go Red for Women" Luncheon, an event on Thursday, May 12th at the Buffalo Marriott to inspire women to live heart healthy lives.

It's important to find out your risk for a heart attack or stroke, because they can be prevented. It's advice that comes too late for an Amherst woman, who was in her 40's when the unthinkable happened: she had a heart attack.

Health Link Reporter/anchor Joanna Pasceri has her story.
