Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - The first day of school is more than just about pencils and books, it's also about the clothes and the shoes because every student wants to make a good first impression.

Fashion expert Susan Makai with Person Best Talent Agency said students who are sassy and chic it's all about the tribal prints, lots of color and designs. Students can also go classic with one bold color and trendy accessories to spice things up. Classic plaids will also make a splash with young girls.

As for the guys, they can hit the halls somewhat dressy with khakis and some formal shoes. Those who want to be cool and casual, high top sneakers and jeans are in.

Makai said students could have all this fashion without breaking the bank.

"I live by clearance racks and I look for coupons that are out there because you can get 20 percent to 50 percent off for kids. Even now, when we are just beginning the season. So I would check the internet watch newspapers," Makai said.

Makai also said students should wear age appropriate clothes that fit their body type. Parents should be aware of what their child is wearing to make sure that the students feels comfortable on their first day of school.
