Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Sunday marked the big finale of the week long gay pride celebration in Buffalo.
The pride parade cruised down Elmwood Avenue, beginning at one in the afternoon.
People lined the streets to watch the floats and flags, with messages of acceptance of empowerment.
Many wore supportive T-Shirts and waved signs and banners.
"Pride is being proud of who I am -- and this gives me an opportunity to do that, because I can't do that everywhere I go, because there's too much homophobia out there," says Buffalo resident Wendy Lutz.
All week long, organizers promoted restaurants, hotels and shops that held special events in honor of gay pride.
