Funeral Plans for NFTA Policeman

(Hamburg, NY) A veteran member of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's police department has died from injuries he suffered in a one-car crash.

42-year old Michael Insalaco hit a utility pole in the Town of Hamburg around 1am on Sunday November 13th.

The accident happened near the intersection of Legion and Maelou Drives.

According to Town of Hamburg Police, Officer Insalaco suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from his vehicle.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor.

Insalaco was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Michael Insalaco was a 15-year member of the NFTA police force.

Previously, he worked for the Village of Blasdell and Gowanda police departments.

He leaves behind a wife, Kelly, and three young boys, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Samuel.

A wake for Officer Insalaco will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Hamburg.

Calling hours are 3pm - 8pm on Saturday, and 4pm - 9pm on Sunday.

A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 9:30am at St. Louis Church on Main Street in Buffalo.

The "Insalaco Family Fund" has been set up through First Niagara Bank to help support Officer Insalaco's children.

The family is requesting that donations be made to the fund in lieu of flowers.
