ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) Tonight, we’re learning more information about the 21-year-old from Orchard Park who is accused of beating and stabbing his father to death.

Friends of 21-year-old Sean Keenan are in utter shock. Keenan is accused of killing his father,m 70-year-old John Keenan Monday, inside their Orchard Park home.

The young Keenan has many people coming to his defense.

“He was an amazing friend,” said Keenan’s close friend Danielle. “He would do anything for his friends. He would give the shirt off his back. He was always there when you needed him and an amazing person.”

We have learned that the Keenan’s had a tough home life. According to tax records, the family owed nearly $70,000 in back property and school taxes. Their house had been on the market for nearly a year, with a listing price of $559,000.

The victim, John Keenan was always away on business, traveling the world with his education business. Friends of Sean Keenan say his father rarely ever attended his son’s sporting events in High School. Sean Keenan graduated from Orchard Park in 2011.

“Everyone who was friends with Sean knew that the family life was not good at the home,” said Danielle. “His dad was always gone somewhere for work.”

In high school, friends say Sean was an extremely intelligent young man who played rugby, was on the soccer team and in the Quaker Marching Band. He pulled off outstanding grades.

The motive is still unknown, but those who know Keenan say he is not a killer, and believe he may have been acting in self-defense.

“Self-defense...an accident,” said Danielle. “It doesn’t seem like Sean that it would be on purpose.”
