BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) A Buffalo fire truck collided with an SUV Saturday night while responding to a call.

Four firefighters and two civilians were taken to the hospital after the incident in North Buffalo.

The firefighters were responding to a fire around 7:30p.m. when one of the trucks struck an SUV at the intersection of Parkridge Avenue and E. Amherst St.

Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield says the truck had their lights and sirens blaring. He is reminding the public to be mindful of emergency vehicles.

Whitfield told Eyewitness News, "Just be very careful on the streets of buffalo we're trying to be a blessing to this community and trying to get there to help people and if the public can help us just by being mindful of that moving over it would help us tremendously."

The truck will be taken out of service until repairs are completed. The investigation into exactly what happened is ongoing.
