BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The former treasurer for the Aurora-Colden Fire District pleaded guilty Monday morning to two counts of Grand Larceny in the second degree.
67-year-old Gerard Whittington was the treasurer for the Aurora-Colden Fire District for more than thirty years.
Between January 1, 2002 and July 23, 2010, Whittington wrote $309,265 in unauthorized checks drawn on a fire district bank account. He also misappropriated $60,055 in fire district funds through his abuse of a district credit card.
Whittington is scheduled to be sentenced on January 31 and could receive a maximum of 2-1/3 to 7 years in prison.
