Ford Sales On the Increase

(Buffalo, N.Y.) Cap-less gas tanks. Voice controlled cars. V-6 engines that produce the same amount of horsepower as a V-8. These are just some of the new innovations that Ford is show-casing at the 2011 Buffalo Auto Show.

Excitement over Ford's offerings is translating into better sales across the nation.

In January, Ford recorded the best retail sales for the beginning of the year in more than a decade. Sales were up 27% compared to last year.

The Ford Fusion and Ford Escape set January sales records. And the popular F-Series of trucks recorded a 30% sales increase.

"Fuel efficiency is at the heart of all Ford product design today," says Chuck Basil, a local auto dealer.

Ford is hoping that younger buyers will be attracted to its Fiesta. The car is being advertised as being able to get 40 miles per gallon on the highway.

Soon to be arriving in showrooms, the Ford EcoBoost engine. It is a V-6 motor that produces the same power as a V-8 through the use twin-turbo chargers.

The public can see Ford's new lineup of cars and trucks at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center until Sunday.
