MT. MORRIS, NY (WKBW) -- Torrential downpours caused flash flooding in several counties and even evacuated one family from their home late Tuesday. A pump cleaned out the remaining water from a flooded house on Damonsville Road in Mt Morris, right along the Wyoming- Livingston county border. Heavy rains of more than 2 inches an hour at times flooded a small creek behind the home sending water gushing into the basement and the family of seven was forced to leave. "So much water was coming in from the creek that the water came into the first floor," David Parish, from the American Red Cross out of Geneseo, said. "And from my understanding water was coming in from the electrical sockets."

The local Red Cross is helping the family. "We've put them up in a local hotel for three nights," Parish said. "We've made contact with other organizations to see if they could help for some additional nights until the family figures out what they're doing to recover from this in the long term."

The landlord of the home says there was a similar flood event there a few years ago.
