Clarence- A national program is leaving its mark on Western New York and the mission is to provide children with the opportunity to read.

Elizabeth Mattson along with several other reading advocates have made it their goal to make the program a local reality.

By logging onto http://www.firstbook.org/ teachers and educational organizations can apply to win a grant to provide children with books.

Tomorrow, the local chapter of First Book will have a kickoff event where they will present their first three recipients with their book grants.

First Book got its start in 1992, but this is the first time it will be present in our community.
