Persia, NY (WKBW) - Firefighters in Cattaraugus County were called to the 8681 Broadway Road in the Town of Persia after flames broke out inside a residence. Investigators say two people were inside the home at the time of the fire, a mother and her baby. The two quickly left the residence after discovering heavy smoke. Fire crews from Cattaraugus County were joined by 5 other fire agencies who assisted with bringing in water tanks to distinguish the flames, since there are no fire hydrants on the street. Luckily no one was hurt or injured, and fire investigators believe the fire originated inside a bedroom. Damage to the home is extensive, and officials say it will most likely have to be demolished. The blaze is still under investigation, but officials do not believe the fire is suspicious and preliminary results point to some kind of electrical problem.
