Final Week to Apply for the New York State Police Entrance Examination.

State Police want to remind potential candidates that this is the final week to sign up for the New York State Police entrance examination. The filing deadline date for the exam in September 08, 2013.

Troop A Commander, Major Michael Cerretto states, “The New York State Police is one of the largest, most highly regarded law enforcement agencies in the United States. The examination is the first step toward a rewarding career with a respected organization.”

The examination will take place in the Western New York area every weekend in October, 2013. Candidates must be between the ages of 20 and 29 to apply for the examination, 60 college credits will be needed at time of appointment.

“The strength of the New York State Police comes from our diversity. We are actively seeking qualified, committed, and motivated candidates from all walks of life to take the trooper exam this fall. Candidates will be competing for the chance to have a rewarding career of service to their communities and to their state,” New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico said.

Major Cerretto encourages minorities, and females to apply. A career with the New York State Police is full of opportunities in specialized units, as well as opportunities for advancement. This is the first exam given since 2008, the eligibility list created from this exam may remain in effect for a maximum of four years.
