(WKBW) Crews picked up the pieces after a car carrying three women all under the age of 21crashed on Walmore Road on the Tuscarora Reservation in the Town of Lewiston around 6 am Sunday, May 19, 2013.
"Three occupants of the vehicle were ejected. One occupant was deceased at the scene and two occupants were air lifted to ECMC," said Lt. Kevin Barnas of the NYS Police Department.
Nineteen year old Jasmin Dubuc of Niagara Falls was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Sources tell Eyewitness News Dubuc recently gave birth to a baby boy.
The driver, 18 year old Taylor Clause of Lewiston is in critical condition.
The other passenger, 18 year old Jasmine Rickard of Sanborn has been discharged from the hospital.
Investigators worked all day to recreate the scene of the collision.
There are unconfirmed reports that alcohol was found at the scene. Police are exploring whether that played a role in the crash along with speeding, texting and any other factors.
"The vehicle actually collided with a power pole as it went off the east shoulder on Walmore Road and overturned several times," said Lt. Barnas.
The crash happened in a wooded area. Debris and items from inside the car were scattered everywhere.
But even in the mangled wreck investigators were able to determine that none of the victims were wearing seat belts.
