BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting on city's east side.

Police responded to the intersection of East Ferry Street and Ernst Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Detectives believe the male victim to be in his 30's, and say he was shot and then collapsed a short distance away in the 1000 block of East Ferry near Donovan Drive.

The victim was taken to ECMC where he was declared dead on arrival.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that the victim was a friend of the City Grill shooting suspect Riccardo McCray, and was the one to drive him from North Carolina back to Buffalo when he turned himself in to police.
