TOWN OF COLDEN, NY ( release ) Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that an early-morning crash in the Town of Colden has left one man dead and a second hospitalized.
That one car crash resulted in the death of a Colden resident.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Accident Investigation Unit, is investigating the death of 24 yr. old, Matthew Goss of Colden, New York. Goss was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 23 yr. old Joshua Stromecki, also of Colden. Stromecki was driving the vehicle, southbound on Irish Road, in the Town of Colden, when Stromecki lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in the vehicle striking some trees.
Goss was pronounced dead at the scene. Stromecki was taken to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation and treatment; his condition is unknown, at this time. Stromecki was placed under arrest by Dep. Joseph Raczynski for Driving While Intoxicated.
Additional charges are pending the results of the investigation.
A 911 call was received at 4:20 AM, reporting a motor vehicle crash on Irish Road at the intersection of Finch Road, in the Town of Colden. Deputies Amy Klimowicz and Timothy Colling of the Colden Substation, along with members of the Colden Fire Company, arrived on scene shortly thereafter, and located two male occupants of the vehicle. Both of the subjects were outside the vehicle, and it appears as though they had been ejected.
It was determined that one of the subjects was deceased. The second subject was treated at the scene by EMS personnel from the Colden Fire Company, and transported to the Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight. He is currently being evaluated and treated at the facility, and his condition is not known.
The investigation is continuing, which is being conducted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit.
