Amherst, N.Y. (WKBW) - Several years ago, Billionaire Businessman Warren Buffett opened a Geico Call Center in Getzville. Now, that call center has reached a goal much earlier than expected.

Buffett owns Geico, one of the largest insurance companies out there. Back in 2003, when he opened the Getzville Center, the plan was to hire 2500 people by the year 2015. That goal has been reached early and according to the Buffalo News, which is also owned by Buffett, he will be here to celebrate that milestone. Buffett has been a big Buffalo booster. Most recently, he appeared in commercials to attract new industry to the area.

This is what Buffett had to say when he announced the plan nearly 10 years ago.

"Warren Buffett/ you've got terrific people here. And in the end, the single most important thing is friendliness. I mean, that is something that cannot be taught and there is a difference in communities in that believe me," Buffett said.

New York State and Erie County were very generous to Geico. The center has been given millions of dollars in tax breaks for locating in Buffalo.
