BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - "I'm trying to get help to bury my daughter," said Roberto Rodriguez, speaking in Spanish with the help of a translator.

Roberto's daughter, 13-year-old Alina Anais Rodriguez, died a Women and Children's Hospital Monday night.

According to police, Alina was swimming with a group at Cazenovia Creek in South Buffalo when one young girl got into trouble.

Alina went in to help her and was able to help the other girl to safety before getting into trouble herself.

Rescuers pulled Alina from the creek about 15 minutes later and were able to resuscitate her, however she died a short-time later.

"They're actually devastated and broken. I mean this was their princess, someone that was attached to them," said Rev. Angel Gauthier, Chaplain for the Buffalo Police and Fire Departments, as well as pastor of Prince of Peace Christian Church in Buffalo.

The Rodriguez family cannot afford to bury their 13-year-old daughter, and are reaching out to the community for help.

"We want to honor her. We want to giver her a celebration....of her life," said Roberto.
