NIAGARA FALLS, NY ( WKBW ) The Niagara Falls Police are targeting what they say are illegal nightclubs popping up all over the city.

It is a story Eyewitness News brought you on Wednesday.

Now, the owner of one establishment, Island Style, says his restaurant is being falsely lumped in with those violating laws.

Police began to investigate the club after a flyer was released, urging teens to come to a party at the establishment, which does sell alcohol.

However the owner tells Eyewitness News that the party never happened.

Kevin Sharpe said the party planner approached him about it, presumptively printing the flyers, but he decided against hosting the gathering for many reasons.

Sharpe said, "Legally and for anyone who does know, you can host an underage party if you contact the liquor authority within ten days. They then contact you telling you what you have to do, and precautions you have to take. We passed on that opportunity. It was moved to someplace else. It never happened here."

Sharpe continued, "When you have a business in this economy, trying to make ends meet and bring something different to the community, then it makes it harder...especially when you get lumped into something that may be illegal going on."

The owner says while they do rent the backroom for parties...the establishment is primarily a restaurant.
