It has been several months since the ABC television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" led the makeover of a neighborhood on Buffalo's west side. Plenty of people are curious about what the neighborhood around Massachusetts Avenue and Normal Avenue looks like now after all these months and so west side preservationists led a walking tour of the area on Saturday afternoon. The tour stops included the community gardens and newly organized block clubs. Activists say crime is down in the neighborhood since the makeover.
"A lot of people remember like 700 hundred people coming into this area but after everyone left and went home things are still going on, still creating parks, still working on homes, the community is still getting together," says Fred Schrock, Educational Coordinator of Preservation Buffalo Niagara.
The money raised through the tour goes back into community re-development.
