BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) For Jamaican immigrant, Delores Powell, it was a dream come true.

The popular ABC television show, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," picked Delores and her family to be the recipients of a completely rebuilt house.

As part of the "Extreme Makeover," volunteers fanned out into the neighborhoods cleaning up yards and doing repairs.

Now, two years after the network cameras came to Buffalo's West Side, the urban revitalization, sparked by Ty Pennington and the ABC crew, continues.

Phase One construction for a new Massachusetts Avenue Park started this week. When done, the park will have a soccer field, and several recreational areas for families and residents.

The area is also seeing several homes and buildings renovated by owners and landlords.

"We are also seeing property values going up as a result of it," says David Rivera, Niagara District Common Council Member.

A 25-square block area around the "Extreme Makeover" house is now designated a "Green Development Zone."

The goal is to turn this zone into a model of urban revitalization.
