Explosion near Rochester Airport Diverts Flights to Buffalo

ROCHESTER, NY (WKBW/WHAM) - WHAM in Rochester is reporting that a hydrogen tank explosion near the Rochester Airport closed the main runway Thursday afternoon.

The fire from that explosion has been contained and the runway reopened shortly after 2:00 p.m. Flights were temporarily diverted to the Buffalo Airport.

WHAM is reporting that two people were injured in the explosion, which occurred while a truck driver was refueling his tank.
