Emergency Demolition Of Former Russert Home In South Buffalo

South Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Officials confirm that the house at 174 Woodside Avenue or what is now called "Tim Russert Way" in South Buffalo will have emergency demolition done, after the July 20th fire that caused major damage to its' foundation.

This is the house where Russert spent most of his high school and college years.

The family who now lives there was forced out of the house because the fire damage totaled the inside. Fire fighters believe the blaze started in the back of the home and quickly spread.

This home is part of the tour by the group "Forgotten Buffalo". This portion of the street was named after Russert because of his history here. Russert, the longtime moderator of "Meet the Press", died in 2008 at the age of 58.

A lot of people didn't know what South Buffalo was or where it was. He put South Buffalo on the map, sort of speak, by the way he talk about his love for Buffalo in general," Neighbor Peggy Krasowski said.
