BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Lexie Furlong, a hometown girl and owner of BLUSH boutique, always had a passion for fashion. She studied fashion merchandising at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

Just three months ago she made her dream a reality. BLUSH, at 1500 Elmwood Avenue, is a specialty boutique for women of all ages. “It’s really important to try and think of everybody. We have clothes, footwear, scarves, jewelry and handbags,” says Furlong.

Vicky Schaffstall, Furlong’s mother in-law and co-owner, says Furlong is great at buying new pieces for the store. “There are things that have come through and I’ve said no one will buy that. The next day, it’s gone,” says Schaffstall.

Schaffstall credits Furlong’s passion as inspiration for becoming a part of the business. These women hope to make the shopping experience fun, exciting and painless.

“We have blush bashes. You and your girlfriends can have the store to yourselves, from seven to nine at night,” says Furlong. Women get the chance to shop over snacks and drinks any day of the week.

Family and community are two things these BLUSH owners value. They look to take part in community events frequently. Furlong said, “We just participated in the ‘Pink Party’ at the Statler City Hotel, now we are a part of ‘Shoptober’ at the end of the month.”

Many local businesses are teaming up for Shoptober. Customers will get the chance to donate 15% of their purchase to the American Breast Cancer Society. Shoppers are invited to attend this event Thursday, October 24th from 5-10 p.m.
