NORTH TONAWANDA, NY ( release ) On Saturday December 10, 2011 - the WNY area lost one of the most visible landmarks in North Tonawanda.
On behalf of the North Tonawanda Fire Department, and Mayor Robert Ortt, Chief John C. Lapham issued a release thanking everyone for their efforts that day, and the days that followed the fire.
Thanks were extended to the City of Tonawanda Fire and Police Departments; Ridge Furniture Company of North Tonawanda; Tonawanda and North Tonawanda Rehap Units; Columbia Hook and Ladder Company.
The investigation team, consisting of Assistant Chief Larry Hromowyk, firefighter Justin Krajnak, firefighter Aaron Morh, and Police Lt. Robert Labushesky have determined the following:
Area of Origin: Voic spaces below the newly installed boiler.
Cause: Will be listed as undetermined due to the fact that the fire officials can not rule out:
1. Electrical malfunction
2. Boiler malfunction
3. Installation procedures
The cause remains as stated pending any new informaton that may be submitted to the team by outside agents.
