Albany, NY (WKBW-Release)

Expect major delays. Parts of the New York State Thruway (Interstates 87 north-south and 90 east-west), plus Interstate 88 are closed. Numerous counties have declared a State of Emergency and unnecessary travel is discouraged. Travelers will not have the ability to access/traverse the most effected areas in and around 100 miles west and south of the Capital District and north of New York City. Major rescue and recovery efforts are on-going. The full extent of damage is being evaluated.

The New York State Police is working closely with its transportation partners to gather and disseminate the most up to date and accurate information. The State Police recommends delaying all travel plans until re-evaluating conditions on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
