BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Dyngus Day 2012 may have come and gone, but this year it is very much in the national spotlight.
For CNN newsman Anderson Cooper, it has become a Dyngus Day dilemma!
He made the mistake on his cable news show, "Anderson Cooper 360" of getting into a giggling fit Tuesday night after reporting on various Dyngus Day activities in Buffalo and other cities.
There was such an outcry from Buffalo that Cooper went on the air Wednesday to apologize, also inviting event organizer Eddy Dobosiewicz to appear on the program.
In a lighthearted exchange, Eddy told Anderson, "As a gesture to prove that we are genuine in our acceptance of your apology, I personally would like to invite you on behalf of Dyngus Day Buffalo, and on behalf of the entire city of Buffalo, to come to our festivities next year, and you will be the very first ever "Pussy Willow Prince!"
Cooper answered saying, "Are you trying to make me giggle again? I would love to be the pussy willow prince, and I don't think I've ever said that before. I don't want to make any promises because of my news schedule things change, but as the date approaches let's talk and I will make every effort to come and to celebrate Dyngus Day, that would be great."
Cooper said he was calling himself "stupid" on the air for giggling, and he did not mean to make fun of the Dyngus Day traditions.
