(Niagara Falls, NY) Even before his January 27th arrest for Illegally Distributing Controlled Substances, Niagara Falls Doctor Pravinchandra Mehta was under investigation.

The New York State Department of Health formally charged the doctor with Failure to Maintain Records, Incompetence, and Gross Negligence. The Department of Health charges were filed in December 2010. The investigation cited Dr. Mehta's lax and incomplete care for seven of his patients dating back to the mid to early 2000's.

Doctor Pravin Mehta has the right to request a hearing to defend himself. He can also accept the Department of Health's findings, in which case, he'll be disciplined by the Department's Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC).

Disciplines can range from a censure up to having his medical license revoked.
