Dozens of family members, friends, and law enforcement gathered in Tonawanda Wednesday to pay tribute to a fallen brother.

Officer Frederick Garassi of the Evans Police Department was off duty riding his motorcycle on Route 5 in Hamburg Friday when he was struck and killed by a vehicle driving in the same direction.

On Wednesday,a long procession of law enforcement vehicles from all over the state and dozens of motorcyclists ushered Garassi's casket to St. Bartholomew's Anglican church where hundreds were waiting to pay their respects.

"He was made to be a police officer and he worked hard to be where he is today," said Tiffany Jablomski, who attended the Police Academy with Garassi.

Garassi is survived by his parents and two sisters.
