The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System is partnering with the ongoing “Give 4 Greatness” Campaign in hosting three lunchtime programs at the downtown Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square. The free presentations, showcasing local performers, run from 12 Noon-1 p.m. and feature:
Monday, April 25: Dancers and Poetry
Bonnie Jean Taylor and Friends dance to the poetry of author Shel Silverstein, plus actors from the Buffalo theatre community will read works by other poets.
Friday, April 29: The Best of the Bard
Scenes from Shakespeare’s well known plays, trivia and theatre during his times presented by members of Buffalo’s theatre community.
Tuesday, May 3: Sonnets through the Ages
Sonnets by Shakespeare and works of modern poets and writers, presented by members of Buffalo’s theatre community with guitar accompaniment by Matt Crane.
Donations to the ongoing “Give 4 Greatness” Campaign will be accepted following each noontime program. The Campaign, spearheaded by ArtVoice and the Greater Buffalo Cultural Alliance, is raising funds through May 5 to support funding cuts suffered by numerous small to mid-size cultural organizations.
“The Libraries are pleased to showcase our talented partners from the cultural community,” stated Library System Chief Operating Officer Mary Jean Jakubowski. “Just as the citizens of WNY have made it clear how important the Libraries are to their daily lives, so are this region’s numerous theatre, dance, music, and literary groups.”
