A Downstate lawmaker was arrested Thursday morning for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

59-year-old Assemblyman Stephen Katz of Mohegan Lake was arrested following a traffic stop for speeding on the NYS Thruway in the Town of Coeymans.

Katz was recently spotlighted in local news after he criticized the state for paying $60 million toward the Buffalo Bills new lease, saying the team isn't rich enough and should not be funded by state tax payers.

Katz was released on an appearance ticket and will return to the Town of Coeymans Court on March 28th.
