Wellsville, NY (WKBW) - The Diocese of Buffalo has a new priest, after a landmark ordainment on Saturday.

John Cornelius was ordained at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville on Saturday evening.

The 64-year-old Catholic Priest is married with children, a first for the Diocese of Buffalo.

Cornelius began his career as an Episcopal Priest. However, he and his wife converted to the Catholic Church two years ago.

Last year, Pope Benedict XVI established a new rule to allow married Priests from the Episcopal or Angelican churches to be ordained.

To prepare for Priesthood, Cornelius spent five months taking long-distance learning courses from the University of Houston.

In another appointment to the Buffalo Diocese, Bishop Richard Malone appointed Sister Carol Cimino as the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

A native of Rochester, Cimino is a college professor and author.

She will officially begin her new position on June 1st, 2013.
