Dinner Honors 'Variety Kids' Volunteers

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Organizers of the Variety Kids Telethon held a special dinner Friday to honor those who volunteer with the many satellite organizations that help to raise money for local children.

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Organizers of the Variety Kids Telethon held a special dinner Friday to honor those who volunteer with the many satellite organizations that help to raise money for local children.

Hundreds gathered at the Adam's Mark Hotel, which is home to the 50th annual televised event, scheduled Sunday from 7a.m. until 7p.m.

Former sports anchor Rick Azar was escorted into the dinner by Channel 7 President and General Manager Bill Ransom, who then joined former anchor Irv Weinstein to share memories of their years at the station and with the Telethon.

A full roster of WKBW personalities and staff were escorted by volunteers to celebrate the kick off party. Keith Radford, Joanna Pasceri, Patrick Taney, Ginger Geoffery, John Borsa, Aaron Mentkowski, Linda Pellegrino, Jon Summers, Mike Randall, Kyla Igoe, Mike Spong, Jason Gruenauer, Kendra Eaglin, Adam Francis, Ed Reilly, Shawn Stepner, Jaclyn Asztalos, Allen Leight, with Creative Services Manager Sue Dobmeier, Program Manager Lanora Ziobrowski, Director Lou Buchheit, and Remote Engineer Coordinator Charlie Smith showed their support for the volunteers who raise money for Women and Children's Hospital and other children's charities.

Celebrity children Casey and Coral Swan enjoyed the company of other children from the many satellites including Holland, Wellsville, and Knowlesville.

The public is also invited to visit the lobby of the Adam's Mark Sunday from 2:15p.m. until 2:45p.m. to meet Irv, Rick, and Tom. Donations will also be accepted from 9a.m. until 4p.m.
