BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Controversy seems to follow Roy Bourgeois wherever he goes, and he does not seem to mind.
After publicly coming out in support of women's ordination in the Catholic Church, the former priest was fired, excommunicated and laicized.
"There were many who tried to stop the abolition of slavery. It failed. There were many who tried to stop the right of women to vote. Many in my church tried to stop that, they failed," he said. "And this movement is no different."
Bourgeois screened the 2010 documentary "Pink Smoke Over the Vatican," at the Market Arcade Theater in downtown Buffalo Thursday night.
