Lockport, NY (WKBW)
The checkpoint was requested by Town of Lockport Supervisor Marc Smith following a series of fatal and injury accidents along the Dysinger Road corridor in the past year. The checkpoint was conducted between the hours of 10pm and 2am and Troopers and Deputies made the following arrests:
Erin M. Broeker, 20 of Wheatfield was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs.
Steven J Callara, 23 of Medina was arrested for Felony DWI.
Christopher Bitas, 29 of Niagara Falls was arrested for Criminal Poss of a Controlled Substance 7th, Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Poss Marihuana.
Kaitlyn Warner, 21 of Niagara Falls was arrested for Criminal Poss of Controlled Substance 7th and Agg. Unlicensed Operation 3rd.
In addition, 12 traffic tickets were issued and appearance tickets were issued for unlawful possession of Marihuana and Underage Possession of Alcohol.
Supervisor Smith stated “The Town of Lockport is very concerned for the safety of our residents. We intend to press for road improvements along Robinson/Dysinger between Transit and Raymond Roads.”
We plan to immediately step up sobriety checkpoints until individuals that would break the law understand that they will be caught and brought to justice.
