A Texas man who was convicted of killing his wife in 1986 is set to be released from prison after serving nearly 25 years after new DNA evidence linked another man to the crime, according to a story in the Austin American-Statesman.
According to the story, the DNA evidence found in an unsolved 1988 murder matches that found in the murder of the wife of Michael Morton in 1986. Police have yet to arrest the person only identified as John Doe, according to the report.
Morton learned Saturday that he would soon be freed, according to the report.
