Amherst, N.Y. (WKBW) - Governor Andrew Cuomo will be at the University at Buffalo's campus to make an announcement involving $35 million in state funding that is planned to help pay for a construction project at UB.
This money is funding he proposed at an earlier time, not only for UB but other universities across the state. This proposal is part of a bigger plan, which includes tuition hikes in these same universities.
UB official hope that this money will go toward expanding the university's medical campus in downtown Buffalo.
"As UB builds its excellence we will build better communities here in and around the world," UB's President Satish Tripathi said.
The funding is part of the Governor's overall New York SUNY 2020 program with more money staying with campuses instead of being rolled into the state's general fund.
Cuomo will announce his plans at the press conference that will take place at 11 a.m. at UB's Center for the Arts.
Channel 7 will have all the details on Eyewitness News at Noon.
