ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) Governor Andrew Cuomo has submitted a request to recall a toy called "Clingy Darts.'
Governor Cuomo is asking the Consumer Product Safety Commission to pull the toy from Dollar Tree shelves, and that Dollar Tree stores remove the product voluntarily until the recall goes through.
The New York's Division of Consumer Protection recently found the darts contain more than six times the federal limit of phthalates. Phthalates are chemical substances sometimes used to make plastic products softer. Studies on animals have found phthalates to be a reproductive and developmental toxin, leading some researchers to have concerns about exposure in infants and toddlers.
