This morning at approximately 7:20am, Niagara Parks Police Service received a 911 call reporting that a male and a female had fallen over the gorge wall across from the Niagara Parks Police building.
Members of the Niagara Falls Fire Department rappelled over the retaining wall and rescued a woman from the top of the gorge headwall. Officers from the Niagara Parks Police, Niagara Falls Fire Department and Niagara Emergency Medical Services attended the gorge below for the male who fell approximately 50 feet to the base of the headwall. The 24 year old male was subsequently transported by Air Ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital in serious condition with a suspected head injury. The 20 year old female was transported by Ambulance to GNGH where she was assessed and later released.
Niagara Parks Police believe that alcohol was a contributing factor and the events leading to this unfortunate incident are still being investigated by Police.
