BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) The countdown to "Buffalo News Kids Day" is on. Special $1 editions of the newspaper will be sold from every street corner in Western New York Tuesday April 26th.
Proceeds will help make good things happen for the Variety Kids Telethon for Women and Children's Hospital and other Children's Charities.
To help promote this longtime charitable effort, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown and Erie County Executive Chris Collins will made a special joint proclamation at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the front steps of City Hall.
Joining them was Variety Kids Telethon celebrity child Gracie Joyce telethon Executive Producer Steve Podosek, and Telethon Chairperson Pat Somogye.
Buffalo News Kids Day has raised more than $3.8 million since it started in 1983.
The Variety Kids Telethon airs in March on WKBW Channel 7. The 2011 event raised $1.2 million for Variety.
